i've seen that the last couple of hubs that i've pulled off of cars have 2 seats or "shoulders behind the bearing pocket". one for the inner bearing and one for the outer bearings. i pulled some hubs off a dart today and noticed that the seats seemed to have been ground out, so that it's smooth all the way through. the bearing seats are tight in there, and the bearings looked good. i'm wondering if this is something that someone did to get the grease to lubricate the bearings better? anyone seen this before? and is it okay to use these hubs?

if your talking about the scalloped areas, they are sinply to give a bit more area to hit with a punch to knock the bearing out
