Post subject:  Aluminum Radiator For Slant 6
Anybody know of a place to get an aluminum radiator that fits a slant six? I've got a 1964 Plymouth Valiant and the places I've checked have hose ports that don't line up with the hoses, some on the complete wrong side. Has anyone here bought an aluminum radiator that works with their slant 6?

I did see your post. And I called the guy. Seems like a good deal. I guess you had a tight squeeze with yours. I didn't know aluminum radiators are thicker. Looks like the radiator he will be making for me will go forward towards the grill. I'm looking forward to having this problem behind me. Thanks for the help!

Check out the older BMW 3 series,its a good fir for the early A. Alum core,plastic tanks,keeps my buddies high comp. 500 hp. 410 nice and cool.

FWIW, some early Mustang V8 radiators have similar sizes to the '64 Valiant radiators and passenger-side inlet/outlet arrangements.
JEGS, Summit, ebay vendors, and many others have aluminum versions.

After reading Dan's post about obtaining a custom design from a source in Michigan, I called to see what the guy could do for my '64 Valiant. He remembered Dan immediately, and he also seemed to be very familiar with Mopar designs.

I sent him a CAD drawing of what I wanted, and he was able to build it almost exactly as I requested. The only problem was with my demands, he could only install one row of tubes, but everything else was compatible with the stock dimensions.

He completed the job in less than two weeks and I received a few days ago. The weld quality is very nice and it was well packaged to prevent damage.

The guy's name is Randy Pettey, and he is very easy to deal with. He has a pleasant personality and seems eager to please his customers, even when they ask dumb questions.

The changes he was able to make gave me about 3/8" additional fan clearance, which might allow me to install a clutch fan, and will most certainly give me more space if I have to install an electric fan(s).

I will confess I haven't yet had time to put my aluminum radiator in my Lancer, but mine's a 1-row as well and I'm not concerned about it...I would be if it were one row of stock-size tubes, but it's one row of big tubes with big surface area. Bigger tubes are nice because they're less clog-prone, too.

I just used a summit brand universal rad found the biggest one i could fit then made brackets for it works great.

Just wanted to chime in as a BMW owner - the stock '90s 3 series radiators are prone to cranking their plastic end tanks. There are aftermarket all-aluminum radiators for these cars though...

Really? I have a few friends running them in high hp a bodies(450+ hp) one in particular has been using his for about 4 years now(got it out of a 93). I never heard of this problem. Do you know what causes it?

I'm in the market for a radiator too. although the guy I'm probably going to go to is a major Duster fan (three models on his office counter), I'm always worried about someone thinking they know what's supposed to go into it and screwing things up worse.
I've got an '85 /6 in my Dart. anyone know of any issues I'm going to have getting a new radiator to fit? I already had to sort of reposition my upper and lower hoses when I replaced them because the preform was a bit off. I ended up having to tie the lower hose back against the block a little to keep it away from my alternator belt.

Been reading this thread (way too much time to read and tons of good reading by the way) I see the deals on the $400+ aluminum radiators.
I plan on getting my original radiator checked out and if necessary will consider this AL radiator, question is ebay shows numerous brands and styles ranging from ~$150 on up.
Anyone have any experience with the lower priced ones?
There are 2 row 1" tubes from American Eagle Radiator for $150 with AT cooling and then 3 row for $230 from performance cooling.
Any info on these suppliers?

Northern radiators from KMJ Performance may be an alternative, $155.

I have bought some parts there, and I am very satisfied with price and quality. I did not buy a radiator, so I cannot say anything about the quality for that, but the prices seem OK.

As for the company, they replaced a scratched $19.50 chrome valve cover, free of charge to Norway!

That's EXCELLENT SERVICE in my book!
