Hey all, pulled my /6 and trans out, motor is OK but needed to change trans and front suspension so it all came out. Dropped the whole works and lifted the car, pretty slick way to go! I'm going to clean and paint the motor, figure I should probably change freeze plugs too. Any other maintenance that's good to do with motor out? Thanks for suggestions,
Bill

Wow! Clean, paint, EVERYTHING! Rebuild the front suspension! Clean out, derust, and undercoat the frame and fenderwells! Swap out the torsion bars for a stiffer pair, upgrade to disc brakes, add a front sway bar, get some bigger rims to run more modern tire sizes, add relays to your headlights, uh, I'm sure someone else will have more to add.

Rebuild the front suspension!
Now's a good time to get new bushings and make upgrades (even get the steering box rebuilt...).

Also now is a good time to upgrade the K-member to a 73+ and ditch the sandwich mounts if you are going for a complete rebuild...

Great ideas, thanks, and all of that is in process - car is a '68 Dart two door, I have a complete '73 style front suspension with sway bar, v8 torsion bars, KYB shocks, front disc brake set-up. Did a basic shift kit on the 'new' A904. Adding headlamp relays and already have HEI ignition, ala Dan Stern. Rust wasn't too bad but I'll address what is in the engine bay. Not messing with other body work now, it's not too bad and it is a driver. Looking at my engine, it appears to have old steel freeze plugs and a block heater, so think it's worth replacing them now. There's a lot of oil around the filter and pump housing, is this pretty common with /6?
