so ive made up a list of stuff to get and im still learning so i kind of need guidance to what kind of stuff to get and why like the cfm,s of carbs and why or also how far i can build this /6. really i want like 500+ hp in my chally but i figured this wouldnt be possible with my /6.

i want to put a 3 2 carbs setup
aluminum intake?
linkages?
im not sure what kind of linkages i would need cause im not sure what carbs to get

headers with 3 inch pipes and i wanna y the exhaust off after the muffler

for my engine i know i need to get
head
pistons
cam
crank
but then again even with this i dont know what i need to get to have the most hp. i really wanna build a baddass car but i also know my chally is really heavy and i have larger rear tires that i dont wanna change. anyone have ideas for all of this. im kinda new to this so when i get told "this carb is good" i dont get told that itll be to much or not enough for what i want

Theres a bunch of routes to take when considering the setup for the motor you want to build if you want 500hp your options seem to be supercharge it, turbo it, or spray it. So first I would decide what you'd like to do and start lots of careful planning and read up on alot of the guys with the fast cars on this forum to branch some ideas off of what they have done to go fast. Once you decide what your looking to build then i'm sure everyone will chime in what parts will help you get to your goal.

Woah hold your ponies there cowboy. Are you lookin for 500+ at the wheels or the crank? And even with some of these full on builds. I'm not sure if anyone has hit 500+hp, that's a lot considering they only make 95hp stock. There is a ton to do to a slant and a lot of money involved to get that much power. Like most people will tell you, do some research on the site, use the search button, and look up the turbo and efi builds. I'm not sure if your goal is reasonable as I don't know how much power a fully built slant can put down. Doc would probably know as he is the guru  I was very ambitious when I got my slant and thought it would be easy to make lots of power and do it cheap, I've learned it isn't cheap nor easy to do so.

well if you go back and read like i said i didnt figure itd be possible but hey im willing to try i figured since i might be running into around 26 grand in the next 6 months on top of what i make i might build a bad ass /6 that would be unique. i definitely want to turbo and blow it but yeah im always reading. not a big fan of fuel injection. ill check out somemore stuff but i figured i might be able to pull in some people whod like to get involved in some crazy ideas and help me realize the whole picture instead of topic by topic

now that i think about it i wanna beat out my old challengers power. i had a 2009 r/t chally and i think it was about 400 hp. end goal= stomp on that 400 and send the person driving it back to the dealership crying

Drop a 440 into it and be done with it. 500hp from a \6 is not reasonable. Of course the late model chally will pass you by at the gas station...

A realistic goal for a naturally aspirated engine will be 230-270 crank HP, which will get you into the low 15s or high 14s. With boost or nitrous, 350 hp should be quite streetable - high 13s? Luckily, your car is 600-1000 lbs lighter than a 2009 Challenger, and lighter means faster.

If you want a great engine and can spend more than $6k or so, just give Mike Jeffrey a call (308-324-3576) and have him build an engine (and trans too?) for you. He builds the best stuff, but does not do internet. He is Nebraska.

Its sounds like you have some thinking to do, or you should pay someone else to do it for you (Mike J).

Best of luck,

Lou

I think if you are able to spend that much money on an engine of your choice.

You could either build some crazy amazing slant 6 engine that will some how add new meaning to the word BEAST. - I think this would be the most fun if you receive the results you are after.

Or you could spend half of that money and buy a Brand new NA v8 engine that produces the power you're after. (boring).

Or you could spend all that money and buy a brand new V8 or V6 with a turbo and/or supercharger with gearbox as well and put it in your car. (Obviously been done to death, but for a reason).

2cents

my motor is about 275 rwhp,300 at the crank, all motor.I have run 11.43 at 115,full race car,2325 lbs,on race gas.If you put my motor in your car it would probably bee a mid 13 second car with gears, but not real street friendly. If I was you I would try to build a turbo street motor that could probably run low 13s street friendly. My opinion Mark

It takes AIR to make power which is the reason that there is no replacement for displacement. Power is also a function of RPM and torque so you need to spin the crankshaft faster to make up for lower torque. There are lots of ways to pack more oxygen into the combustion chamber (turbo, Nitrous, etc) but starting off with a bigger engine helps a lot. No matter how fast you make your car, someone will come along with a faster one.

If you want to keep the /6, I think you would be a lot happier if you built it for maximum low RPM torque. It would great to drive on the street and would get the best fuel economy. Let's not forget that gasoline isn't getting any cheaper and it's a lot more fun to drive your car than to park it. Case in point: I never see a local 440-powered 65 Barracuda at any cruises or car shows.
