Hey guys, have my engine out and trying to reposition it on a '73 style K-frame. First time doing spool mounts, and as the pictures show, things are not lining up. Passenger side mount is at least an inch short of the groove in the k-frame. So... did I get a wrong mount, or could the inserts be backwards, or...?

Hello,
you will have to use one of the Photo hosting services like Photobucket, Imageshack or such.

Your url links to Flickr by using Facebook or Google.
We ca'nt see your pictures because only you have the access.

Give Imageshack a go , it is user friendly.

regards,Rod

Without a picture it's hard to tell, but you may have it upside down.

Didn't work, perhaps once you have uploaded the photo? go to your profile or view it as if you weren't the person who uploaded it, right click go properties and copy and paste that link to us.

As you can see, my slant is not too slanted. Seems like passenger side mount will be even further off if I tilt the engine properly.

I think you have the brackets on the opposite sides of what they should be.

are both Spools identical?

Does one side of the K frame have hold the bracket higher than the other? (if so swap the brackets around as I said above).

Upon installation it may be easier to not let either of them fully seat in the bracket until you can fit both at the same time.

Try to turn the distributor side mount upside down.

Agreed. The passenger's side mount is upside down. It snuggles up next to the block not down by the oil pan.

Success! Worked much better that way and put the 'slant' back in my slant. Only one more question now, it's hard to see if the spool-through bolt seated all the way into the groove. Any tricks to that?
