Hey gentlemen. This is my first post here, so please be gentle.

Does anyone have a wiring diagram for a 65 Valiant? I just acquired one and the last bit of work that needs to be done is the lights. Some need new bulbs, the turn signals don't work properly (one will only flash when the headlights are on and the other stays lit solid.) I'm considering just running new wires, but I'm more interested in just doing whatever is easiest to get it on the road. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

James

Take a look here for all your Mopar codes & electrical needs. As soon as posable get a copy of the Factery Service Manual for your car, it will make life for you and us much easer.

You'll want to get the three books described in this thread as soon as you can.

Anytime I see turn signal problems like that I usually have fixed them by cleaning the grounding point for the bulb sockets.

The socket has to be clean (not rusty), the bulb must fit snugly in the socket (a little grease in the socket doesn't hurt), if the socket "snaps" into a (metal) lens reflector then it must fit snug & the hole must be clean (typical for tail lights).

If the socket has a ground wire (typical for front parking lights) then the wire connection must be shiny-clean & tight. Look for a (black?- black/white?) wire with an eye terminal screwed to the sheetmetal of the radiator crossmember or the inner fenders.

If it takes more than 1 sec. per blink you might want to replace the flasher unit as well.

Reporting back. Eventually got stuff working...almost everything. The diagram was invaluable...thanks for the direction on that. New turn signal switch will be coming this week. Any tricks or tribL knowledge I should know before replacing that? The steering wheel is off and as far as I can tell, you jus disconnect the wires at the bottom and carefully pull up, reverse for the install on the new one.
