looking through the Rockauto online catalogue with a part number search there are two versions of the NGK ZFR5N that show http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/raframecatalog.php one with a manufacturers number of 3459 and goes for about 2.04 a pop one with a manufacturers number of 7917 and cost 4.33 each when sorting for a 2000 Jeep Cherokee the 3459 version shows, I called Rockauto and they said the 7917 version supports a large spark gap and is for the european version of the Jeep,, any truth here? |

Dunno......... I have experience with the Honda version only. It works well. |

Mmm…nope. RockAuto's answer is wrong. In NGK's line, there is nothing such as two different versions of a single plug number (such as ZFR5N). Their numbering system isn't arbitrary; each character in the plug number is meaningful, so any variation gets its own number, prefix, or suffix. However, stock numbers (such as 3459 and 7917) are assigned arbitrarily by each regional operating office of NGK. The stock number for a ZFR5N in the USA is 3459. That number does not appear in the European NGK catalogues. The stock number for a ZFR5N in Europe is 7917. That number does not appear in American NGK catalogues. 7917 lists out in the European catalogues as a ZFR5N with a preset gap of 0.9mm, which is 0.035". 3459 lists out in the American catalogues as a ZFR5N with a preset gap of 0.035", which is 0.9mm. They are one and the same. Save the extra money and let RockAuto find some other sucker to buy stuff they needlessly imported from a European warehouse. |
