I have a few questions before I start my radiator swap this weekend. I'll just list them out, thanks in advance. 1. Does anyone know the approx capacity of a 225 Dart with the 22" A/C compatible radiator that's been re-cored to 3-cores? I only have the capacity of a 225 with a 16" radiator. 2. I have an overflow tank that's in great shape except it's dirty/moldy inside and discolored so I can't see through it very well. I've tried dish soap and simple green/castol super clean which helped a little but not much. Would bleach be a good idea? If so should I just fill it will off the shelf bleach and leave it for a few hours? or will that damage the plastic? 3. I will be flushing the block and heater core out with the garden hose...what's the best way to get the excess water out of the block and heater core after rinsing? Should I try and use the air compressor to spray it out? Or just not worry about it and top it off with distilled water/coolant? 4. Last but not least, does anyone know the part number for the upper radiator hose in Greg Ondayko's signature? I got his permission before asking this and using/referencing his picture. That's the exact hose I need and it's been a pain to find as there's a varitey of hoses listed. See his signature pics below: ![]() Thanks guys... |

Capacity is roughly 15 quarts. Bleach won't do the job; first try a vigourous slosh with white vinegar and if that doesn't clean it up then rinse it out and go to liquid drain cleaner. Remove the block drainplug to get most of the water out of the block. Use a length of heater hose and mouth pressure if you have no compressed air to get the water out of the heater core. Upper hose is Dayco 70744, Goodyear 60616, or Gates 20230. |

Hi the_shadow. I don't have the exact figures for the Dart, but the coolant capacity according to the '78 manual for Aspen/Volare is 12 quarts with a std. 19" radiator, and 14 quarts for the 22" radiator used with A/C and Maximum Cooling pkg., and Police/Taxi. Olaf. |
