ive been looking into rebuilding it my self, but ive never done a trans before. i know the kit comes out to around 100 bucks. i thought id call my local trans shop, and they told me $1000 bucks to rebuild. thats 900 dollars in labor! fuuuck that |

Go for it! the 904 is a very simple thing, just keep everything clean, and read the manual |

I'd take apart,and put back together a junk 904 trans first,just so you can learn. |

It's no big deal, very easy to work with, you would have good use of a slide hammer to get the oil pump out, the clutches can be done with a clamp and a piece of wood shaped like a U. If you do have an old 904 with rear oil pump it is a bit tricky to get that one aligned (the cover that is), it's a bit picky. A manual is good to have. |
