I purchased a rebuilt Manual Steering Gearbox for my daughter's 65 Dart & it bolts up perfectly to the frame. However the 65 Dart's original universal coupling is too small for the rebuilt box.

The original gearbox diameter is .622 in. where it bolts to the universal coupling but the rebuilt box is .723 in dia.

The box remanufacturer showed the box as having a range of applications from 63 to 72 & over several models of dart, charger, & coronet.

Has anyone run into this & have they solved the problem by getting a larger universal coupler off a different model/year?

Sounds like you got a C-body box? I have never seen a different splined shaft on the early manual boxes.

They sent you the wrong box. Interchange on the right box is '62-'72 A- and B-body.

The final result was I purchased a new manual box coupler (#122) from the following source:

http://www.steerandgear.com/Chrysler_Catalog.html

The problem was:
1) the original power steering box with the .625 input spline & coupling is a smaller diameter than the replacement manual steering box with a .723 input spline.
2) Ebay listings incorrectly listed a single coupling that would fit either
