Does any one have a source for a Phenolic Carb Heat Insulator for a stock 1971 225? Aluminum or wood would be OK also. Either 0.50" or 1" thick. -------------------------------Thank you for your help in the search! ![]() |

I use two of the thick 1/2" ones with a sheet of .090 aluminum in between. The aluminum acts a heat deflector and heat sink that the fan cools. Take a look at the pics by clicking on the red link below my name. |

Hi Two Lane. You can easily make them yourself from marine plywood, which is surprisingly resistant to fuel and heat, and also is the same material as in the ones you buy. You only need common handtools. Olaf. |

No such spacer is available, but you should not need anywhere near ½" or 1" worth of spacer between the carb and the intake to solve your hot-start problems. The stock 5/16" spacer is plenty if you will make the various upgrades and modifications already suggested in your thread on FABO -- heat shield, fuel line mod, etc. Adding as much spacing as you propose will create problems with the throttle linkage, kickdown linkage, and choke linkage. |
