I recently cleaned up my carb, and I was wondering if there was a way to get the fast idle to kick without it being cold outside. I just want to make sure it's at the right speed. I suppose I can wait until it's cold enough to need it, but if there is a way to get the fast idle to come on, I would like to do it now just to get it out of the way.

Thanks!

It sounds like you may need to re-adjust the "choke spring".

I'm sorry, maybe I wasn't specific enough, or I'm not understanding something. I understand how to set it, but it's hot outside right now, so the fast idle doesn't even come on. I want it to come on so I know whether or not I need to adjust it.

Manually open the throttle with your hand. With the other hand, swing the fast idle cam into the position specified for your particular carburetor when making the adjustment. Hold it there while you release the throttle with your first hand. Start the engine. Check the engine speed. Adjust as necessary. Done.
