Has anyone fitted an SU carbie to a slant six?

Will it require a different inlet manifold, and if so, where can I find one?

I am after some feedback about the pros & cons of using SU carbies as an alternative to the standard Mopar carbie on a slant six motor.

Thanks.

Can buy Triple SU carb manifolds on ebay pretty readily. Other places like pentastarparts.com.au/sunshop also sell them I'm sure other folk will also know places.

You could also get an adapter plate fairly easy from similar places and it'll either bolt on to your current, or you could adapt it in a hours work.

cheers.

Can I use less than 3 SU carbies?

What size SU carbies should I use and where can I get them, including linkages, etc.

Thanks.

There's allegedly a twin-SU intake available, see here. Or there's this setup made with elbows cut off a Rover 3.5 and welded onto a stock 2bbl intake. If you want a single-SU setup, you'll have to make your own, or adapt from the (scarce) factory side-draught intake fitted to the early Clark Cortez motorhome, with its (even scarcer) diverter plate.

I have driven an aspen with a single su, IIrc, it was from a volvo B18, adapted to a 2bbl intake, much like the second link Dan posted.

The car was in horrible shape, and I was busy trying to keep it on the road, so no real performance test...
Anyway, the car was crap, the carb was junk, and the kickdown linkage wasn't hooked up.

It still did a good job keeping up with other cars, so I guess it might be ok, if you did it properly, and had a good carb.

The little volvo carb was probably way too small, but I would think it ran about the same as a stock 1bbl engine, at least up to some rpm.

I have a twin SU manifold, but as yet have not tried it.
I have a pair of 175CD Stromberg carbs to try on it.
