Post subject:  is a ford 9 inch rear to heavy for a slant

looks like a lot of these are out there.
eBay/local
are they considered too heavy in weight for a slant six..

They do weigh in rather "fat", but the biggest problem with them is the angle between the pinion and ring gears. That angle is pretty big, and eats up quite a bit more horsepower than other choices.
You might want to consider a Ford 8.8, especially if you can snag one out of a Mustang. Most of them were limited slip rears, and later ones had disc brakes on the back.

Ok
theres a thread here about Toyota rears also..they look a little more stout then the fords..
being on a budget plan it's good 2know whats what and the when one @ a price comes up snag it.
