inspecting the right front brakes
the leading shoe is 2.25"
and the rear /trailing shoe is 2.5"
is this a missmash?
the drum reads 9"

1968 Dodge Dart slant six. inspecting the right front brakes the leading shoe is 2.25" and the rear /trailing shoe is 2.5" is this a missmash? the drum reads 9"

OK this is the ft brakes on our 1968 Dodge Dart factory 273V8 car..they look different then our slant six   any who? |

When I changed my drums to new ones still having the oem ones on my car they looked a lot different but worked just the same. Just make sure there the right size 9's or 10's and they should work if there for your car. It maybe just a manufacture design like mine was. The pads are suppose to be off set ( one bigger then the other) to prevent lock up so I'm not sure what you saying is wrong. Most drums and pads are cheap if your worried just replace them I'd also do the wheel master cylinders if you plan to change everything as well if you have not already. |

Just thought I would throw my 2 cents in here since I am currently rebuilding the front end on my car and found that I need new drums. My shoes measure just like yours so I am assuming that the drums are 9X2 1/2. Went to RockAuto and they offer 9X2 and 9X2 1/2 front drums. They also offer shoes in the sames sizes. They also offered some 10" sizes. Not sure why the different sizes but my car has some different options on it. Its all factory because I have the build sheet on it. It's got the 225 six with air, tinted windows(think that may be part of the air package), sure grip rear end, 14" wheels and tires are some of the stuff. |
