On my '71 the pitman and idler arms connect to the center link going up through the bottom. I know on the '73-'76 they go down through the top as the center link (thus the pitman and idler) changed designs.

On '73-'76 did the tie rods change design too? or are they the same?
Do they still go up through the bottom of the ball joints in '73-'76?
Lastly, will the '73-'76 idler arm fit on a '71 k-frame?

Thanks --- I don't have a '73-'76 car to check this on visually!!

Tie rods are all the same, at least '62-76. Can't remember if from above or below, but it doesn't matter and they swap over. Don't know if '73-up idler fits on '71 K, but I rather doubt it.

FYI, you can find answers to ALL of these questions by going to rockauto.com and seeing if part numbers are the same for the different year cars. They are reliable in my experience.

Best,

Lou

Actually you can't.
The idler on my '71 is designed to connect up from the bottom of the center link
The '73+ idler is designed to go down from the top
HOWEVER, they are both thru bolt idlers and look like they connect to the K-frame the same. When doing a '73+ disc brake swap replacing the idler, pitman, and center link to the '73+ design on a '71 car is what i'm wondering.
So again, does anyone know if a '73+ idler arm fits a '71 K-frame?

OK, I did not understand that you want to use the '73 centerlink on a '71 K as well. I don't know if the idler mount is the same.

Is it just that you have the 73 idler, pitman, and centerlink already, and don't want to reuse or buy a '71 idler and pitman? I don't see why you'd want to do this otherwise.

I would say: Yes, the different idler arms will inter-change between the K members.
This is going back 15 years or more but I had a 68 A-Body and installed a 73 "spool type" K-frame only, into it...

We un-bolted everything attached to the old K-frame and swapped it onto the new one with no issues or problems
