this is a fresh engine, first race weekend, i was using a vented catch with 2 breather line to the valve cover. i use to have 2 lines to header collector, with the catch can i am getting oil spray from dipstick and oil seeping from block /head surface along lifter valley.how do most control crank pressure under boost ? |

I'm not doing anything special. |

Almost every slant six I have ever owned has had oil seep from the block/head surface along the lifter valley. I don't think a leak from that area is related to boost. |

Have you run a leak-down test to check the ring seal? |

this my first time with a cooper head gasket, i found a thin skin of cooper silicone work on stock gaskets to stop oil leaking just along the thin side of the lifter valley side ,are cooper gaskets harder to seal on this side ? |

I coated my copper gasket with hylomar I don't have any oil leaks. I plugged the pcv to the carb and now use a elec vac pump hooked to the vavle cover along with a breather on the firewall side of the valve cover. Kev |

Car Quest had some Hylomar for my slant. I don't run a pcv also, just a valve cover breather. I get just alittle oil residue around the breather but not much. Our turbo 318 was doing what yours is doing and we switched to copper and special sealant and it cured the problem. We tried all sorts of things and finally changed gaskets. Later Ryan |

My rings came with the wieso piston/ k1 rod kit from that group buy on the forum if i remeber correctly I did my top ring .018 and second ring .022 per the instructions for ring gapping on a turbo motor from wiesco. Everything looks good my valve cover doesn't get any oil around the breather at least I haven't noticed any. Kev |

Call Wiseco, they have a large selection of "tuner" rings and they might have something off the shelf. My piston is actually 3.4645" I run the PVC with no problems along with the normal vent in the VC. |

Hi terrylittlejohn. See this link to hylomarsealant.com. Many pro enginebuilders use it, good stuff! Olaf. |

when you apply this do you just spread a thin layer over both sides of the cooper head gasket? |

I used the spray can, I sprayed the whole can on both sides Kev |
