I got a '73 Swinger that has had some repairs to the front unibody. It's a $350 car that is otherwise rustfree and solid. I believe everything is aligned OK (I can check against my other A-bodies). I thought I might use the caps sold by AutoRust Technicians to strengthen the chassis and cosmetically improve the appearance where it is now obvious that damage has been repaired. Do these caps fit OK? I can massage the caps if they're workable, I don't want something which looks cobbed. This car is not rusty, I expect that these caps would significantly strengthen the chassis, but I don't want something which is ugly. |

Read through the stuff on their website, some great info there: http://www.autorust.com/ Maybe give them a call and ask for some referances or more photos. DD |

I had Auto Rust Technicians repair my rear frame and install frame connectors about five years ago. I brought the car to them and can tell you that the owner, Jerry Carlson, spent a lot of time answering all of my questions and showing me his facility. Great guy, give him a call. They specialize in Mopar. The frame connectors do lift the floor slightly but it is hardly noticeable, and made a big improvement in the way the car handles. Bob D |

I believe I'll order the full caps, I would like to strengthen the chassis for better handling. Auto Rust Tech can make these in 10 guage steel, I feel that ought to add some stiffness. It is interesting that the metal folded near the firewall. This is the same area that a '74 Duster folded when I had a minor fender bender back in the '80s. New cars are designed to fold like an accordian, but the A-body chassis engineers probably didn't intend the metal to fold at the exact point where it did. I think this area might be a place where the unibody is a little weak. |
