Hidden toggle switches |

Dont do hidden switches. Thats what thieves look for first. If you can, use switches that look like a factory switch for ignition and starter and keep them in the open and unlabled. I have 4 rocker switches on my dash, 3 for lights and the forth is to turn my coil on and off. Its in the middle and none of my switches are labled. You can crank the engine over all day long but if the coil switch isnt on it wont start. Here is a bosch relay guide that has quite a few security things that are easy to do with a bosch relay. http://dlcparts.com/images/BoschGuide.pdf |

How 'bout some vintage anti-theft ideas to go with the vintage car? Look here and here (though read the clarification note here and note that this one works only if you're smart enough not to smoke). More ideas here. Or just drive a pre-'65 automatic car with pushbutton drive. In this day and age, it's a very effective measure against drive-off thieves, who might start it but will likely never figure out how to get it shifted into Drive. |

If you want cheap, pull the coil wire off and put it in the house when done driving. |

Rewire the cigarette lighter to be the ground for a relay that runs the ignition. Car will crank and crank without the lighter pushed in, but won't start. - Mac |

Low tech: pull any plug wire out of the distributor cap, and switch it with the center wire from the coil. It looks like all the wires are connected, but won't start. Also on one of my cars, the battery was moved to the trunk by PO. If the area is sketchy, I just remove the ground from the battery and close the trunk lid. |

Buy a Honda Civic and park it next to your car. They will go for the Civic and ignore your "good" car. |

Er, not to be too obvious, but how about an alarm? I've had one on my car for 10+ years. Don't use it in SoCal, but when I'm in Nevada, it's always in use |

When i was getting a roadworthy certificate on my 63 Valiant wagon a while ago,the young kid working there asked me to drive it on the ramps for him because he couldn't figure out how to get it in gear. |
