my engine manual says that the cylinder bore size standard is 3,40" diameter... i believe
My block had a .020 pistons... the question is to knows the overbore size... will be on my block 3,40+0,020=3,42"?

... the situation is i put the used ring piston in the cylinder to see the distance in the tips of the ring and had .080" then i put the ring near the surface of the block and measure again between the tips and .022"... i had a little bit wear here, i imagine, in the cylinder and of course in the ring, my question is what is the size to make in the cylinder to put in a .030 piston (3,40+0,030=3,43"?).

i need to know till how overbore will accept my block... maybe .030 will be so little because the wear in the cylinder and i´ll be put a .040 or more...

...because i had to buy the pistons in USA because hre in the ass of the worl i never find nothing to my slant

seems to be the only way is take the block to the machine shop & the only bad is that here in Chile the guys that do this job don´t know how to do his job and they do some mistakes. I don´t trust in them... the only thing that they want is money money money and more money...

Buy .060 oversize pistons & rings...
Find a machine shop where they know how to bore & hone an engine block and you can trust them to do it right.

don`t buy the stock 80 over piston the rings are hard to find

did you know a shop where had the oversize pistons .040 or more and rings and ship it to Chile and payment with visa or mastercard... here haven´t pistons in every shops i called. it is really hard to get

no... the .080 size is in the tips of the ring when i put it in the cylinder

doug is anybody you know running the 80over piston and were are they getting rings set ? i can`t find any ,summit still has the piston. Sealed Power Z244NP80 - Sealed Power Cast Pistons but they don`t list a ring set.

The .080 rings have been discontinued for a while now but I still find sets "here-&-there".
The other option, get a 3.5 inch set and file them to fit.

Maybe Just go to the .104 oversize from Weisco..

I dont think their .104 ring sets will work with a stock type piston and I am also not sure if their pistions will work on stock rods.. but with the boost ryou are running they will be lighter and in a a common (metric) ring size.

The Wiseco pistons and ring set is a much stronger / better quality set-up but designed for racing, with real thin rings.
The "factory replacement" cast pistons use the thicker 5 /64 compression rings. (3 /16 oil ring set) these tend to wear better / last longer in a "street" engine that will see lots of miles over it's lifetime.

i was talking to doug awhile ago about that, his calulation would be 6.5/1 compression, i guess i would have to change the under drive ratio a bit to compensate. i will have to do something if the rings are no longer available ,this is the last block i have 80 over,maybe i could hone it to put the metric .084 pistons in there!
