Post subject: | Offset Bushings |
I am getting ready to install UCA bushings on my 73 Duster and was interested in the offset bushings to increase positive caster. If used, the front bushing will be installed with the hole away from the ball joint and the rear bushing with the bolt hole towards the ball joint, moving the ball joint rearward and increasing caster. Won't this cause the bolt holes to not line up anymore? With stock bushings, the bolt holes will be inline with each other, but with offsets, they will not. This makes me think the bushings will sit crooked where the bolt to the frame in order to get the CA to mount correctly. I have searched for an answer to my question but to no luck. |

There is a small amount of misalignment as you assemble the suspension with the offset bushings installed to improve caster. There is, however, enough "give" in the bushings, et cetera, to let you line things up and bolt them down. The alignment will tell the story, but make sure you check for any possible binding. Our chassis and suspensions weren't perfectly square and true at the factory. That's why we have tolerances and adjustments. |

Having once installed these bushings on my Dart, I can say upper control arm installs just fine after the offset bushing retrofit. |

You have 2 separate bolts and both are on eccentrics. No alignment problems should be had. ![]() |

I purchased Raybestos offset bushings and they did not come with the washers. Why does the Moog kit have them and not mine. I checked other boxes and they too were missing washers. |

Are the washers necessary? |
