hello. just picked up the remanufactured crankshaft from napa and on inspection a couple of the rod journals appear to be machined more on one side than the other. it is .030 undersize. the "grooves" on the sides of the journals are present on about half the circle and gone on the other. it is like it was ground offset. should i return it immediately or have my machine shop check the dimensions? it was sourced from Standard Crankshaft Company, Inc. From your description it appears there were damaged journals and they offset ground them so they would clean up. For my money I'd want better. |

agreed joshua. that was my thought. upon further visual inspection one rod and one main appear to have had something dropped on them. enough to feel with a fingernail. i will be returning it tomorrow. thanks for the reply. andy. |
