Has anyone used one of those B/RB SFI Fluid dampers for $139.99 off of that large electronic store? If so, How is it? Also where can I get more info on Fisher dampers. Thanks, Drew 63GT |

Do a search for "Dampers" on the forum, you'll find a bunch of stuff. what I did not see was a link to Fisher, so here it is... http://www.fisherconcepts.com/ I have one of their dampers. Looks real nice, but it's still in the box. (We're still making metal chips) It was 'Xpensive. I'm not sure about the interchange info w/ the other engines. Hope this helps Gilly

Thanks for the info Gilly, Very helpful. After the Holidays I will be in the market for a new damper. Fisher seems to be the way to go but I would like to know more about those sfi approved units on ebay. 139.99 seems a really good deal if it's a good damper. Happy Holidays! 63GT |

Looks like they put alot of work into making 'em. Too bad they don't make any for my Toyota, too (and they make 'em for NISSANS?!).

i also have a fischer balancer that has been NIB for several years now. it appears to be of high quality although i think the fluidampers would work better. i bought one of those catpep balancers for my lowbuck smallblock and it appears to be high quality as well, but like the ad says: will it work as well as a real one? at any rate, i figure they can't be any worse than a stocker! if they didn't, you would know a soon as you fired the thing up and revved it a few times! -james |

I used the link to Fisher Damper. Are they now known as Vector? I remember Fisher had sold to Russel Performance but was unaware it's been sold again. I bought a Fisher in '89 for a 440 drag car I was running. What I remember was the recomendation that the unit be disassembled once a year and cleaned. The damping is done by friction discs. I guess eventually they would wear and have to be replaced. Installation was difficult as the hub to snout fit was tight in order to transfer the harmonics better. The web sight has no mention of maintainance required. Have they been changed to mantainance free? Cecil |

The big issue with aftermarket SL6 dampers is running pulleys. I run the Fisher and had to cut the hub back and make some special brackets to get the water pump and alternator to drive off the damper. Big Block Mopar dampers will bolt-on but they stick-out pretty far. DD |

Thats an important issue for me Doc,for I want to"start-out"running a single belt.But is it the hub on a BB unit what keeps it out so far? Can the hub height be machined to bring it closer to the cover?  Drew 63GT |

a noce thing about the fisher (at least the one clifford sold me) is that it uses the gm 3 bolt pulley, opening up more options such as underdrive/serp belt applications. -james |
