Post subject:  Pushbutton Parking Brake Cable Removal

Hey, everyone! I've started my big disassembly on my '64 and I hit a little snag. The parking brake cable part of the pushbutton unit is held in place with a cotter pit and a crimped bit of metal as seen in this picture. Anyone have any experience taking these apart? I know the obvious solution is to force it open, but I don't want to damage anything if I don't have to. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Thanks, Doc! That would do the job for now at least. I actually have a different pushbutton system to replace mine, so I will have to force that part out eventually, though. The new one has much nicer buttons and a backup light switch.

So, it turns out you just bend it a little. It went better than expected. Thanks again for your help! I'll definitely keep it in mind when detaching the cable from the other side.
