I replaced the heater switch on my 73 dart trying to get the heater going again. I still didn't get the fan to turn on.

I pulled the heater box apart to look at the fan. With the power off, should the fan blades be able to spin freely? The fan will not move at all so I am trying to find out if I need to buy a new motor.

Thanks for any help.

Yes, the fan should turn easily by hand.

Alright, I went to the local parts store to pickup a new blower motor. What came up for my 73 dart, dealer install ac was some generic junk. It didn't even look like it was the correct diameter to fit in the firewall and the wires to hook it up would be in the engine compartment.

Anyone have a source for a blower motor? I have searched online and found a lot of the same thing.

If the car has dealer AC I believe the blower motor for the heater should be the same as a non-AC equipped car. And, yeah, the stuff I see on Rockauto looks like some generic junk.

Have you cracked open your old motor to see what the problem might be?
