Hey everyone! I took a couple shots of my engine so I could get some guidance on which part I need to wipe all the grease off of to find my ID stamps. ![]() ![]() As you can see, things are kind of, um... cable tied into place. Heh. Whatever works, right? I know I need a new air cleaner. The PO put that one on. If you look close, you can see where the exhaust slops over the head behind the rad hose. That's the only spot that it seems to not match up. The whole exhaust seems tilted to match the back end of the head, which throws it off up front. You'll also notice a brass plug where there should be a temp sensor. When I took my thermostat housing off, I noticed that it seemed like the sensor itself was impeding the movement of the spring. I didn't know how badly, but the sensor wasn't connected to anything at all anyway, so I took it out and plugged it. It may become clear to you that I have no heater hoses. That issue has yet to be investigated. So, where do I look on this thing for useful numbers? All I know for sure is 330-I, cast at 3am, 5/10/85. Also, anything else that you see that looks weird or missing or broken, let me know! Thanks guys! It helps ![]() |

Hi Chetterhead. The engine ID number is located on the right side of the engine block, above cylinder #1, just where the block and head are joined. I the picture of your engine, behind the alternator. When reading the letters/numbers, also make a note of other marks like stars or crosses, they may indicate things like under- or oversize bearings. See these links for some more info: How to identify slant 6 (1960-1965) IDing my Temp Engine Help me id this engine You should get a manual for your car as soon as you have an ID on the engine. A parts list can be downloaded from mymopar.com, look under Tools/Reference. Olaf. |

…except when it's at a similar location except below the #6 (rearmost) spark plug. Or on the side of the block below the rearmost spark plug. Or behind the water pump.

Yes, but some of the differences mentioned are covered in the first link. Do you have a list of the different places for an ID related to production dates/casting numbers, and are those differences related to later models also? Olaf. |
