Post subject:  eBay aluminum radiator

I am in need of a new radiator. Has anyone used the aluminum radiators from "Radiator Classic"?

I'm also looking at a radiator from Spectra Premium, part number cu527. Does anyone have experience with this radiator or company?

Or does someone have another suggestion other than the junk yard?

Hi 73dart_swinger, if you go back 11 threads, you will find what you search for in Water temp results

The radiator from Summitt is not the same as the one I am looking at. The ones I am referring to are supposedly a bolt in deal with the correct hose routing to the passenger side.

I purchased one from them for my truck. Yes, it was a "bolt in" replacement and I got it for less than $80, shipping included. This was during a "special" they ran this spring. The radiator itself had rather poor workmanship, in that it was slightly crooked. The input and output connections were slightly "off" in both position and size, and the "tank" was actualy a rectangular welded up chunk of aluminum channel, top and bottom.

However, it holds water well, has a provision for a temp sensor with metric threads, sealed by an o ring, and cools the engine unbelievably well. I drove all summer with no fan, even up to 100 plus weather, without overheating. (no, you could not idle long periods of time in city traffic, or drive in low gear at creep speed) but the addition of a 14 in electric fan made the truck absolutely impervious to overheating in any weather, no matter how severe.

Overall, I think I got a decent deal. I don't think the stock fan shroud would nicely bolt up to it. I can't use the stock fan, or even any factory fan, because the crank trigger wheel is in the way.
