Hey everyone.

Another question from the new guy.

So to the point.

What is this port/elbow/nipple coming off what is believed to be a 1945 holley??? 1976 plymouth valiant.

I rerouted all of the vacuum hoses in accord with the emission sticker.
(picture above is prior to rerouting, it was way wrong)
EVERTHING routes correctly now, ----accept this port.

It is not visually represented by the emission sticker
(everthing else is represented)

What do you think this is?----bowl vent port??
And where do you think it should be routed????---it is capped now..

to add---car seems to run smooth...

Chyrsler manual does not show this port---i cannot find any visual match on the web..

Thanks much

Idle enrichment trigger port. Needs to be hooked up properly or not at all. Carburetor operation and repair manuals and links to training movies and carb repair/modification threads are posted here for free download.

thanks slantsixdan for your reply..

I did go to the posted threads you recommended.
Both the movie and manual on the 1945 did NOT visual express nor mention
"Idle enrichment trigger port"
Forgive me if i missread the manual or misinterpeted the short movie that "introduces" the "new" 1945 carb from the designated thread links....

I also did a slant six message search for "Idle enrichment trigger port" and recieved only your prompt message response.
(could be there, but under much more obscure phrasing)

You did state that it
" Needs to be hooked up properly or not at all."
That is definitive enough.
So, i will continue to research a definitive source that might reference where this idle enrichment trigger port is routed to. And what its integral purpose is.

Thanks again, for giving me at least a nomenclature foothold.

Any other community viewpoints would be great, thanks

IIRC, it's purpose was to add additional fuel to the mixture when the engine was cold to help prevent stalling since the idle mixture was already leaned out to the hilt during those dark days of emissions.

My 74 Duster had one also. I just left it unplugged, car ran perfect. I was missing the little vacuum switch gizmo that went on the manifold.

Thanks very much for that, jeb

Found this also from a simple google search---

"Idle Enrichment (IE) system: 75-81. This is a driveability enhancement.
It supplements the choke function by allowing an even richer mixture during the warm up period to improve driveability. This will appear as a small attachment on the front bowl cover that has a vacuum port that connects to a coolant temperature sensor (CCIE), then to manifold vacuum with bleed. It will also be plumbed into the EGR delay timing system."

From a great online guide for a Carter Thermal Quad.....

Yet so far, thats pretty much it.
Nothing so far concretely designatng the holley 1945.
So, THANKS much for your response.

i still want to route that, just right, into the system i have.
To complete a thought, so to speak.

I was wrong
I need to look more thoroughly next time before posting something.(sorry)
The chrysler manual does describe and gives testing information. Yet does not offer an explanation of how the valve is actually routed to the 1976 emission system (california) that i have.

It does NOT give a routing schematic for the idle enrichment valve.

Which is what i need to know......

I am half way there.

Any thoughts on routing this valve would be great....

Thanks much
