I've had the Duster parked for the last 10 months or so and I have been trying to get it started and she just won't start. And it wasn't running all that great when I parked it.

And I don't want to just start replacing stuff that may not need to be replaced.

So does anyone on the board live in Avondale, AZ or close to there? I'd be willing to pay for the help getting it running again.

Thanks, Marty

This might not help you right this minute, but you'll want to get the three books described in this thread as quickly as possible.

Tune-up parts and technique suggestions in this thread. Carburetor operation and repair manuals and links to training movies and carb repair/modification threads are posted here for free download.

Check for spark when you crank it by holding a spark plug lead near the block and lookin for spark. I would stick a screwdriver blade in the plug wire cap and prop it up so the blade is near the block. Certainly do not hold it in your hand.

Check for a squirt of fuel from down the carb throat when working the throttle.

Drain the tank of old gas. Fill it with fresh, and try squirting starting fluid into the carb throat while cranking. If it fires and does not keep running, you have fuel problems. If it does not fire at all with the starting fluid, suspect the ignition and start checking components. Voltage at coil in crank position for key, etc.

If it does not run, buy all that stuff Dan said. If it does start, buy it anyway.

If you have spark, air and good gasoline it should run.

Sam

Thanks for the fast replies guys!!! And I'll book mark all of those links you post Dan!!!
There is a lot of info there that should really help. I'd still like to find some one here to give me a hand with it.
