So after the 69 Was totaled I was really bummed. I have been looking for another A body. Being from california I was shocked  at the prices of A bodies in Texas, even 4 doors! So I started looking at trucks as I have always liked the 73-89 Dodge trucks. I found this one today and I knew I had to bring it home!

1987 Ram 100
225 about 130,000 on it
833 O/D

Bare bones no radio,no a/c and no power steering! It needs a new bumper, driver and passenger door and right front fender, all of which I can get for about 200.00,other than that the bed is really straight, and she runs really well.

My plans are convert to HEI,convert the hydro motor to solid lifters, Light port on the head, bump up the comp to 9-9.5to1,clifford shortys, single side exit exhaust after the rear tire, erson 270 with a 108 lobe center(thanks Kevin) and super six(thanks Lou) with a holley 350 on top of it. Then just drive the wheels off of it. What do you guys think?

Nice truck! JC Whitney sells a chrome plated replacement Ram hood ornament for your truck but it has light-up eyes! I always thought those were kind of cool.

Say, could you look around the truck or an OBD I connector? There was a member on here about a year ago who had an 87 truck and he claimed it had an OBDI connector on it. He got chased off the board before we ever got a definitive answer out of him as to whether or not there actually was an OBDI connector on the truck.

Reed-

Thanks! I might think about that ram with the light up eyes. Sounds cool! Where did he say the OBD1 was? Under the dash?

See here. "Mister Perkins" said his OBD connector was on the firewall.

There will be a diagnostic connector at the left front corner of the engine bay (not on the firewall), above the Lean Burn computer. It is not really an "OBD" connector; that terminology does not apply to diagnostic systems prior to the standardized system mandated for 1996 and sometimes called "OBD-2". See here.

The diagnostic connector on the '87 truck is similar or identical to the diagnostic connector on the late '70s Lean Burn setups. Those weren't "OBD", per se, either, though in a generic sense they did allow a primitive sort of on-board diagnostic monitoring.

Look for the green arrow in this pic:

Not from what I have seen.In california I was able to pick from a handful of rust free 63-73 2 door a bodies for under 1500,4 doors for under 1000,and V8 cars for under 3000.Here I have seen a few 4 doors for 6k+ and other a bodies with 318's closer to 10k!I even saw a guy asking 3800 for a Dodge Magnum(the b body, not a LX car) that was rusty and not running! Anything I have found with a good price usually has rust(where does it come from??) and/or a lot of mechanical problems.

Where is this amazing hood ornament? I can't find on JC's website. Man, that sounds so ridiculous, yet awesome, that I may have to purchase it for my '87 truck.

Stan,Happy thanksgiving! Thank you. You got a colt? I need some details! After I get some new tires on the d100 I will road trip up to show it off.

I am looking for a used holley 350 2bbl. I also am looking for a 68-74 drool tube head, with the rockers/shaft if you got one. Im going to swap the hydro motor over to solid lifters.

Jared
Thanks, Happy Thanksgiving to you too!
I have a head with a recent valve job. But you should be looking for the late model head with the hard seats for the bad gas. I am sure someone will drop in and give us a part number year info. But if you want tubes, I have one here. If you go over to FABO and search Colt you will find some photos. I am taking it apart now to go the full race route. Too many fast folks living here to go half way.

My plan is to do some mild porting on the head, and then have it cutfor some compression,so I would have them ad hardened seats anyway. Shoot me a pm and let me know how much you want for it. Im Red66GT over on FABO,Ill check it out!
