Yeah, mine finally bit the biscuit. The dipstick as well. I do know I can just buy a universal dipstick, but what about the tube? Anyone know where to find one? Also, if someone has installed one before, let me know. Mine broke off right at the engine, so I'm not entirely sure how I'd remove/reinstall. Thanks! |

ARe there still junk yards near you that would have a slant in it? Check on Moparts.com and see if anyone is parting a slant. Check with the forum here. Fact is, it is just a tube. Any steel tube of the correct length and diameter will work. You will have to drill, or pry out the old one. An old trick for keeping chips out of the oil pan is to coat your drill bit with grease so the chips stick to it and do not fall back in. Chances are, if you start drilling, the drill will grab the old tube and start to turn it, at which point you could likely withdraw it. When I installed my turbo, I had to extend the dipstick to make it accessible for space reasons. I used a dip stick from a 318 V8, tube and all. To make sure it registered correctly, I filled the engine with 5 quarts of new oil, started it to fill the filter, and then checked the dipstick. It seems I had to file just bit off the tube to get it to register correctly. I used green lock tite to secure it. Sam |

Post subject: | Mr. Gasket |
Well, I'd prefer not to go yard-hunting for something that could break easily on me again, so I guess I'll be looking to: Mr. Gasket 6923. Your thoughts on the 318 dipstick makes me think this could be a decent fit. Thanks, Sam! |
