Can someone tell me if ARP is still making a head stud kit for the aluminum motors? |

I just called ARP today, actually, to ask the same question. I got the guy on the phone who dealt with Doug 10 yrs ago and he said they made 10 sets and sold them all. Not in their system and was a custom order. He said most of the ARP tech guys are at the PRI show this week and to call back next week. How many people would want a set of head studs for the aluminum engine?? Cheers, Lou |

I am looking into options, with some advice from Doug. Hope to have some info in 1-2 weeks. Looks like a kit will be somewhere around $80-100. The regular iron block kits are $80 or so. Best, Lou |

Cool deal. My buddy who works for ARP is in Florida as well. Hopefully they can resurrect the original work order.
Best, Lou |

I just talked to Sam Benson with ARP at the PRI show. The studs are available individually as part number AP3.300-1lb Nuts and washers need to be ordered separatly |

I am on sensory overload right now, after three day of the show. He did not state a definate price, BUT if I remember correctly he said the complete set of bolts washers and nuts, about $100. (I could be wrong, though) PS I showed him the page that DD posted in the articles section, so he would know what I was refering too. He did not recognize that part number, but went by the sketch and dimensions listed.

I love going. Three out of the last 4 years. I'm lucky it's only about 80 miles from my home. Went to a few seminars, this year, and won a set of "King" engine bearings, as a door prize. .However I did not win the Rehr-morrison drag engine they raffled off for the Petty's childrens charity . |

Charlie, Thanks for touching base with the ARP guys. I will probably see if they can do a set with nuts and washers. However... Doc sent me this link: http://www.allensfasteners.com/search_r ... 0&sortBy=3 It looks to me like AP6.000-1SB is the one to use. Charlie, could it be that they meant AP5.600-1SB? That would be even better as the 6.000" long stud is a bit long. May have to use 2-3 washers for the 6.000" stud to avoid running past the threads on top. The stock head bolt engages right at 1.0" of threads, so we'll need that much engagement, and then the overall length (under head) is 4.7". The AP5.2500 could also work, and will give just about 0.55" of fine thread above the head for nut and washer. I would probably do this, actually, and might even omit the washer. Hope this helps to get someone going right away, Lou |

Lou, I just gave Sam the info Doc has posted, here. http://www.slantsix.org/articles/ARP-st ... layout.jpg He wrote the part number on his business card. Possible he made a mistake. Might be best to contact them directly. |

I'm tearing down this rebuilt motor I got last Sunday this week. I'll probably need to address the head stud pretty soon. So that we are not all bugging Sam calling about the same thing who wants to pursue this issue? I have a friend that works for ARP who was at PRI and I could ask him. I just don't want to step on someone elses efforts. |
