I have a 74 Duster,225, and was wondering if a new coil would help anything. I dont think the coil I have now is bad, but I didnt know if I would gain anything by getting an aftermarket unit,ie,Accel super stock, MSD. In the quest for more performance from my confusing 6!!! |

Well I am upgrading from points and I have decided to go with as much aftermarket as possible. I'll have bought Accell Superstock Wires, Chrome coil Wells Gold Copper contact cap and rotor and ecu haven't figured out the ballast resistor and voltage regulator yet though. I know the acell super stocks put out lotsa spark so I would say go for it. But why fix it if it ain't broke? I think you should stay with what you have til it breaks, then instead of replacing it, upgrade it. Unless of course you plan on racing. |

If you current coil is working fine, use it. Get the conversion going and see how it runs, you can swap coils later and get a better idea on if it make any big difference. ( High output coils don't usually do much for a Slant) DD |
