after measure the cilynder, take this measures, in the top have 3,419, and where the rings touch the cilynder have a jump of .002... then 3,419+.002+.002=3,423" the question... need i to pass to the next size of piston from ,020 to ,030, or can i put a new set of 6 pistons ,020... what is the tolerance to the cilynder... this question is to decide buy the only piston set here in Chile (a ,020 sealedpower flathead)... or order the piston set from USA a ,030 or ,040... help. thanks |

i think when the finial hone is done on a fresh bore it can go .005 over,if you want extra clearence on the piston/bore. so .003 for you might be ok on a .020 piston. |

The big question is, how round and straight are the bores? Just because you have .002" at the top doesn't mean you do at the bottom, or even that the cylinders are round. (They usually aren't) Also, you need the true diameter of the piston plus the piston to wall clearance before you can decide if the bore you have now is good enough. Easy as pie, huh? |

thanks guys: i think the best decision is buy the .030 pistons and rings and take the block to resurface and re-bore the cilynders... other question the process of balance the crankshaft how it is?... thanks again and read you later. |

The crankshaft balances to itself. Match the rod and piston assembly weights. CJ |
