While dis-assembling this engine(my 1st slant 6) I removed the coil and bracket which is attached to a BIG chunk of cast iron attached to the engine block. Does that big chunk serve any othe purpose? |

On my 74 I threw the extra metal away and mounted the coil on the fender to help keep it cool. My coil did not connect to the alternator bracket.

Funny I realize that now after looking at my 64 GT, but the 270 with aftermarket A/C has the alternator mounted on the drivers side down low?

That's an adapted alternator mount; all '61-up passenger car slant-6s had the alternator on the spark plug side. |

Yes this car has had some creative engineering done to it over the years(not by me!),but it's nice to have a parts car to dis-assemble and learn what not to do(and maybe what to do?) |
