I am trying to install a 225 in a 1946 Chevy ¾ ton Pickup. Because of the limited space I am looking for any alternative installation ideas to accommodate the 225. One was mounting the alternator in front of the intake and exhaust manifolds…Any help would be appreciated. Pics would also help... Thanks, John Kully at johnkully@gmail.com |

This set of brackets does exist and has been used on a number of early 60's vehicles. Not too long ago Andy at AREngineering had made a set up from laser cut steel for sale, but not enough takers to make a run. I have the patterns, but there again I'd sit on a lot of parts and not see my money back for quite sometime. The alternator base bracket/channel will bolt to the base of the block on the I/E manifold side where the power steering pump bracket sits, then you would need an arm to hold the alternator in proper tension (the real part is somewhat curved like V-8 brackets).-D.Idiot |

Factory manifold-side alternator brackets are on 1960 Valiants and all A100/A108 vans with slant-6 engine. |

What format are they in? Could they be made available for people to take to whatever custom-one-off machine shop and have one bracket set made for themselves?

They are one unbent flat peice of metal each with the holes punched or cut in them...literally the original sheetmetal definition of 'pattern'...time to get out the scratch awl and blank...-D.Idiot |
