if i am correct yes you can do this without changing the cam bearings, just make sure the ones you have are in good shape thats all, i'm not sure about the differences in the rockers though, there is a hole for more oiling on one of the back bolts or something of that nature, someone around here should be able to clear this up better for you. |

Yes, you can change over to the mechanical cam, the rear cam bearing for the hydrilic set-up is grooved but that will not hurt anything. You will also need the mechanical rocker arms, the ones with the adjusting screws. DD |

Doc, Is it worth the expense to buy an extra "hydraulic" bearing set in order to get the grooved rear bearing for general mechanical cam installations ? Do you routinely groove the rear bearing journal? Thanks in advance, Gilly |

Quote: Doc,
For the mechanical cam set-ups, just be sure the "crosshole" is in the rear bearing and cam journal, that will provide enough oil to the rockers. If you use a grooved bearing along with the crosshole set-up, you get a bunch of oil (and pressure bleed-off) to the top of the engine, where you don't really need all that oil.Is it worth the expense to buy an extra "hydraulic" bearing set in order to get the grooved rear bearing for general mechanical cam installations ? Do you routinely groove the rear bearing journal? Thanks in advance, Gilly DD |
