I got this tip from a friend: Free Chilton library (all cars!!) online! The Michigan Library website is giving out a free pass to their library. You can have access to the entire Chilton's library collection by going to their Library website. At the prompt where it says "Login using Michigan Driver's License or State ID number," enter the following: C4535896486 This is not an actual driver's license code but a code so you can enter their site for free! |

Say, that's pretty slick! I have tended to look down my nose at the Chilton repair books, but it looks like the company has been hard at work improving the quality of their info -- at least for the later-model cars I looked up; it looks like their earlier-model stuff is still the same. But it's certainly a handy online library, for sure. Here's hoping that free code doesn't get shut down! |

I've used the online Chilton library before and I found it to be useful. I can get access to it and other online resources from my own local library. I just need to use my library card number to access them. I'm sure other local libraries have similar services available. http://www.forterie.library.on.ca/eresources.php I think it would be better to use local library services because my guess is that they depend upon usage for funding. |

It worked for me. I am definitely going to be using this when I start working on my great-aunt's 95 Volvo 850 wagon. I also agree it is better to patronize you local library. However, due to some odd boundary line issues, I actually do not have a local library I can access affordably even though I live in a major metropolitan area. This online library will be great for me. |

I just tried again and got the same results as I did earlier! Then I had a silly idea, and typed in the password alphanumeric characters individually. THAT worked!!! I'm going to check with my local library and see if they have similar programs.

Well, darned if I know....something disagreed between Windows 7 cut & paste and the library site?? I manually entered the passwork again and when it let me login, I let Thunderbird save it. Then I backed out, entered the site again and the row of dots representing the password appeared. So I hit the "login" button and got the same failure as when I cut and pasted!I cut and pasted the ID...... Hit the top login button after cut and pasting. Congratulations emsvitil. Guess I'll just have to put a sticky note on my monitor! BC |

Well, unfortunately it didn't take too long to find the first factual error in the Chilton info I first looked at. It was a few days ago and I've forgotten just what the error is. Not like they can correct it after archiving anyway,,,ATB BC |

Now it isn't working for me anymore. I tried Safari and Firefox on my Mac and neither worked. |

I know this will be a limited number of people, however, if you are military or have access to an ako account you can get manuals on your ako account as well. I'll go look and see the maker and report back. Edit: have to use my cac to login so I'll check it at work tomorrow. |
