| Post subject: | What is this in the cooling passages of my block head? |
I'm flushing the block on a 1960 170. Have yanked all freeze plugs, thermostat, etc. Was poking around the top cooling passage through the thermostat hole, and saw what looked like a tiny rod extending back through the passage. Poked it, and it came loose. Wondered what a small rod or wire would be doing in a cooling passage. Started trying to pull it, and thought...hmmm. don't know what this is, I will ask everyone here first. Any idea what this would be, before I go yanking it out?

Thank you! That thought tickled my brain, but I didn't want to go pulling out some essential wire that did something I didn't know about. |

Hogwash 13… This is no laughing matter; those rods are coolant grounding electrodes designed to reduce electrolytic bleed off. One must renew ground strap connections between head and fire wall to enhance AM radio reception. Oh Eatkinson, while the old AM Music Master is on, don’t forget to wear a tinfoil hat during select talk radio shows… Messages become more intense with less electrolytic loss… |
