I have a 86 d150 with a 833 long shaft that is bad truck vin says it was born automatic will a 197? /6 904 from a volare interchange i have fly wheel but is driveline or yoke the same ?? i can't find a 833 for less than 500 local or with shipping . and these are hard times

the 833 and the 727 share the same drive shaft yolk, so you'll have issues there. the 904 is smaller. you can make anything work given time and the money on any project.

The 904 uses a torque converter, not a fly wheel. You will need to get the automatic transmission shift linkage (and possibly a new steering column), a longer driveshaft, the torque converter, possibly the wiring for the neutral start switch on the transmission, transmision cooling lines, possibly a radiator with the trans cooler built into the bottom (or an aftermarket external trans fluid cooler) and probably some other bits I am forgetting. Your best bet would be to find a parts truck with an automatic and strip it of anything you don't see on your own truck.

The transmission itself will fit fine, it is all the other bits that make the transmission work that you will ned to get.
