Okay, this started yesterday, as far as I know. When my Volare is running, smoke comes out the breather on the valve cover. The weather has been cold here lately. It has done this before, also when the weather was chilly.
My '78 Volare's slant has over 200,000 miles on it. Also, the oil on the dipstick looks a little milky, which I suspect is just condensation. The engine doesn't seem to be running any worse, so what do ya'll think this is? Is there a quick fix for this? Or is this maybe a symptom of something serious? I do have a spare slant six in my garage.
Thanks!

Just remember to run car long enough to get temp up to normal and run it more than a short trip to the store.

I've got a 180 degree stat in there now. I'll swap that out this weekend.

I do a lot of short trips, I do not have a very long commute. I guess I need to get out on the highway now and then.

Thanks for the replies fellas!

Run a lighter oil. My buddy's van was looking milky with the 10-40. Switched to the 10-30 and hotter thermostat.

I used to get that in the original motor in my van even driving 130mi. a day. 20-50 in the winter. Or either that the head gaskets were seeping?

195 thermastat , 10-30 oil....changed often....it's cheap ..... run it .....in the cold it is going to condense in these engines.....nothing to really worry about....change oil/filter...you should be able to get another 100,000

keep on roddin'

The hotter thermostat did more than the lighter oil (more heat in the engine).

I'm running 10w-30 now, but I still need to change out the stat.
Thanks for the input!
