Nice looking little car! :D

About time they showed it. The long waits tend to just tick me off.

I still want a Montreal...
(Or in a pinch an 8C2900B. Yeah, I'd settle.)

It's about time. Killing the Neon for the Caliber was a bad idea.

I expect it to look like every single other car being manufactured today where automotive "stylists" are hampered by the need to develop the lowest reasonable drag coefficient. The laws of aerodynamics apply evenly to all automobile manufacturers, and there is only one optimal shape for minimal air drag. Since all manufacturers are pursuing the same objective goal, it makes perfect sense that all cars will now look alike.

I think the high water mark for automotive styling, especially for Mopar, was the 1960 lineup of passenger cars. Sure there were some good looking vehicles in later and earlier years, but the complete package of interior and exterior styling peaked for me with the 1960 model year.

Kinda like…

…like…

…like the Nova, Falcon, American, Dart, and Valiant all looked pretty much alike starting in '63 plus or minus a year or two.

That said, I am not a fan of the upsweep-to-the-rear beltline with high deck. Makes for poor rearward visibility.

Also not a fan of the red rear turn signals which should be amber. But I guess I will get a closer look tomorrow, when I will be on a kamikaze run to photograph the lights on all the cars at the auto show in Detroit, or at least all the ones new or changed since last year. Thank Dog for a press pass; it means I won't have to battle crowds as much.

That very thought passed through my gray matter as well, until I attempted to haul a plastic cooler containing car cleaning stuff for shows that fits in all but one vehicle we have, the Dart. Its pathetically shallow trunk is PIA, and exacerbated by storing a fatter than stock spare tire…

High assed iron may be a bit harder to seer rearward at times; however I have found that the oversized, orthopedically correct, active head rest seating, to be the biggest impediment to good sight lines. But, having today’s tail lights a few feet higher in elevation from that dreadful seventies styling cue; lights mounted in the bump’ah better.

Manufactures’ have solved rear view visibility by installing bunp’ah radar, and trunk cameras with video read out in the center stack. Little old blue haired ladies are now able to trade in their Aries K’s for the new stuff with confidence.

Naw... they can't get away with that "boxie" design.
They should have done something like this:

Looks like a small version of an early 2000s Stratus. Uglyass car imo.

This is why station wagons should never have gone away... glass all the way around, thin pillars, and, when you need to, you can stack it to the ceiling. [Ok, that has dangers in itself, but life is all about compromises, and picking one's comfort level of risk.]

Too bad I'm one of like 50 people who would buy a station wagon--even worse is that I don't buy a new one every three years.

One possible benefit of a high trunk line is not seeing the high mounted factory pickup truck headlights. I get bothered by that in my Jetta from time to time; not sure on our Camry (don't drive it enough to know).
