Post subject:  Rolled my car

On the way to college today I hit ice off of a s bend and it lost traction, I countersteered and ended up in a ditch upside down, I got out alright and the car isn't too bad from the preliminary look around it looks like a bent tire, smashed bumper, fender, door and quarter. Luckly the car did what it's supposed to and I came out un hurt. May need some help from the local slant community finding replacement panels if I need them. I am waiting for the tow truck to come and get it out of the ditch

Yeah, me too, it's being taken to the family friends bodyshop to be looked at to see if it's fixable, more details and pictures to follow

He thinks it's fixable, roof is smashed a little, driver fender is gone, same with the panel in front of the hood, the passenger door and passenger quarter are toast, the bumper is gone too. Haven't even thought about the engine yet. Ill get some pictures up soon

Today sucks. If anyone local has some of these panels laying around shoot me a PM with a price and condition, I would like to get this put together as fast as possible:

Driver Fender
Front valance (part in front of the hood)
Passenger Door
Front Bumper
Headlight buckets
? 71/4 rear ? might be busted
? Upper and lower control arms passenger side ?

Might need passenger fender too, not sure yet.

Surprisingly the engine bay looks intact, the radiator isn't even busted. When it was turned over I looked at all the frame rails and just eye balling it they don't look bent. So other than the rear wheel/axle its all just cosmetic. I just hope I can get it back together soon.

Thanks,
Seth

Well, looking at the car, I think I can push out the roof for sure and do little touch up on it with a hammer and dolly and bondo, and the fender might be worth saving, the bumper is toast, the quarter really worries me though, the way it hit the pavement I can't open the passenger door and is bent inwards right at the latch between the two. Once I get the ok to work on it I'm going to try and get it as straight as possible again. It's getting a new coat of sublime green I think. It will drive again, just not in winter

If the dart fails to be fixable then I have a deal lined up on a 4 speed 82 d-100 truck with a mechanical 74 slant and super six, but I'm hoping it doesn't come to that.

See if you can get out to the Turner pick a part, they used to have a 1973 4 door dart that might have the panels you need, everything else was picked over the last time I was there...

Well, I'm searching for parts, I've found a quarter panel, roof skin, door, bumper, fender. Don't know prices yet, I've got to call the yard when they are open next. Still need to find the front panel. Not looking forward to doing body work again.

The reason I managed that was because I knew it was slick out so I was going 20-25 miles an hour around a 40 mph corner and it was dry through the corner until the end when I hit ice, I countersteered and let off the gas and it shot me the other way, so I hit the brake when I had traction, so I estimate I hit the ditch at about 20 mph, so it wasnt a fast roll, it just kinda set its self down on the roof very gently. The worst damage was rolling over on the edge of the pavement, where the quarter met the door, its seriously messed up there and going to need a new quarter.

Seth you are very lucky be aware of other vehicles when it's cold enough to form ice. They could do same as you just did and find yourself involved.
