looking for good working trans. I am on a small budget but have a few things I can trade as well if the price is more than I have. I really want to drive my car. I have been rebuilding the engine for the past year and now I got it running and my transmission is slipping all over the place! |

no the linkage is not hooked up. I didn't think that would make a difference unless I was trying to pass at higher speeds. I need to fabricate a bracket for it to hook up. Will that make the tranny act up? |

That's why it's slipping. Don't operate a Torqueflite with the linkage disconnected, or it will eat itself very quickly. CJ |

thanks CEEJ! None of my mechanics mentioned that that would be an issue. Looks like I will be looking for linkage, hopefully sooner than later. |

is there a place to visually see the linkage being hooked up or adjusted anywhere? |

Do a search on kickdown linkage ajustment. You'll find quite a bit. What year is your car, and what carburetor do you have? Better move out of parts wanted over to the transmission area so you can get some answers quickly. I'm very serious about not driving the car like this. You will burn up the transmission in no time driving with the kickdown disconnected. CJ |

Thanks for all the help! I think I have it hooked up now and is running much better. Still some adjustments needed, but moving forward! I will check out the auto yard in Richmond. Is that the one off Richmond Parkway? |

Post subject: | Rebuild 904 |
Now the Tranny is TOAST! I am still looking for a good working 904! I live North of S.F. -Anyone? I am also willing to trade a $2k Mountain bike for a rebuild AND INSTALL of my transmission. I know it's a weird request but I am low on cash. |
