Post subject: | New Stuff For my 69 Dart |
As most of you guys know I got a 69 Dart Custom from Wildcat when I worked for them. I found it back the woods by Ed's house and it was left to the pine needles. I walked by it everyday and I needed and second car so I decided to buy it. Turns out it had really low miles and some neat options. So I dug it out and drove the hell out of it ...... I replaced the entire interior a few months after buying the car. We had plenty of donors to snag stuff from. I also swapped out the 2.76 gears and housing for a 3.23 and later rebuilt the rear with new bearings and seals. after one morning I found a couple holes in my gas tank I shoved in a 75 Dart tank ... that was wrong! The proper interchange for the car would be 68 to 70 on the gas tank. So it never fit right and did leak when full. Well since I love driving the 4 door and it keeps the miles off my 64 GT, I decided it was time to do somthing for the old girl. New gas tank: I also broke down and got a Stainless Steel Sending Unit .... Large bolt pattern 7.25 (was gonna use an 8.75 but its going in my other project) with 10" drums. The rear is @ RR&P getting a 3.23 and a complete rebuild. Disc break conversion and I went all out with cross drilled and slotted rotors! Also all new ball joints and bearings! USA Made Rotors and the shop is a Centric Dealer So I got a good price on them. I also have a set of them in 11.75 comming for Marilyn. ok I need one more picture of those sexy rotors! EI Conversion 70 AMP Alt and solid state voltage reg Rear defroster: Gotta get the matching metal bezel the plastic one looks like crap disc break master cylinder and biasing block As she sits tonight ... I will post a lot more of the upgrades as we bolt them on. |

Very nice! The 67-69 Dart sedans are one of my favorite A body body styles. My brother used to have a 68 sedan that was the light green paint with a dark green vinyl top. I wish I could track that car down again. |

Thanks! and the 64GT is much faster Oh Hey Reed, thanks for the comments. And it's a big no right now on the blank rotors for a while I coudl get them from IMC but as of right now I don't know of anyone that I deal with that has them. This may change tho .. We just started dealing with Centric & Power Slot so when I talk to there dealer rep I will mention that there would be some demand for this or do or could they make a blank available. well we got a ton done last night and this morning but after going through everything I got to now replace the motor mounts .. a set is on its way as I type. and the heater core took a huge steaming dump this morning when I was timing the car! CRAP! So I have a new one comming down from first call for 30bux and the bottom seal on my power steering box has given out also! ....... now on that one I am gonna go with RED HEAD, I am hella bummed that I am not giving Dick Ross @ firm feel my $$ but I need it NOW ... and FFI does not do now very well. ( sorry guys! ) here is this mornings fun: the new rear is back from RR&P the gas tank is under coated i have two extra (spare core) pwr steering boxes so this one is going off to RED HEAD more to come later tonight |

The new gas tank is in and NO LEAKS ! yay! But it was not too easy ... we had to "roll" one of the edges of the gas tank because of my Huge Rear Shocks. I'm so stoked to now have a full tank of gas in the car with no leaks ... tomorrow is motor & trans mounts, heater core and the start of the disc breaks and rear project. I should update this post mid afternoon tomorrow when all the goodies get here. cheers! oh yeah a nice car pict .... |

because they come that way http://www.napaonline.com/Catalog/Catal ... 0172884111 I have an extra set in the box since they are getting hard to find. And as with Marilyn my Shock mounts have been re-in forced. I also have 6 leaf springs on the rear so these give the car that just right stance. |

this morning was the heater core: I have pulled a LOT of heater boxes when I worked at Wildcat so I'm pretty quick. After cleaning out 40 years of pine needles I pressure tested the new core and then installed it. I also replaced the defroster hoses: Noel gave her a very basic alignment so I can limp to the line up shop: Now I am just waiting on more parts ..... |
