Do you want to just get rid of your points, or do you want to do an entire electronic conversion? You can put a Pertronix kit in your existing distributor, which will get rid of the points and ballast resistor. That's what I've been running for the last 5-6 years and it works well. I'm in the process of doing the HEI conversion right now, and I bought a re-manufactured Chrysler electronic distributor from RockAuto for $50 ($39.99 + $10 core charge). I ordered one for a 74 Plymouth, by A-1 CARDONE, part # 303690.

Any 73-mid 80s slant six powered car, truck, or van you can find in a boneyard will have the right distributor, just make sure it has a vacuum advance pod and only one electrical pigtail. Or, if you want a new one, you could try Old Car Parts Northwest (do a search on the site for contact info) or http://www.arizonaparts.com/ You could also post a want ad on the board. I'm sure someone has a spare laying around they would make you a good deal on. |

I'm doing a complete electronic conversion while my engine is out. I have a complete wiring kit from a 73 donor which had electronic but the dis was destroyed from the guy before. I'm hopping up my motor a little bit thats why i was thinking a performance dis would be helpful. |

The best performance distributor you can get is a stock unit with a advance recurve done by yourself. Order the distributor spring recurve kit sold by board member bigslant6fan and you can do the performance curve yourself. |

Brand new Chrysler electronic distributors (better than "remanufactured" junk) from Old Car Parts Northwest. See HEI upgrade article. |
