anyone know of a decent supplier of dash vents and defrost hoses for a 75 abody? mine finally gave up the ghost and year one wants what seems like way to much for hoses, vents and adapters. btw what are the adapters they show for?

I don't remember what the defroster vents look like on a 75 "A" body. I have done a couple of "repairs on the 64-65 "A" bodies. On these cars, I think all the vents are made by the same company, no matter where you buy them. When rplacing the vents, use the original mounting nuts, not the ones that come with the new vents. The hose kits suck. I make my own, now. I use PVC plumping pipe, JB Weld, and the flex hose from the parts store.

On my 71 A Body, the parts store defrost hose fit on the outside of the fitting on the heater box and then the inside of the fitting on the dash vent. It's designed to have the hose go on the outside but that would require the hose to be a different size on one end, which they are not. Either way I put it on the inside and I can't tell a difference in air flow. If fits very tight in there so you get nearly maximum flow.

I have a set I'm selling from my wrecked 74 dart, pm me with a price, one hose is brand new, one has a hole in it, both vents are perfect, tan.

The adapters page was just the link I had saved. They also have hoses.

Here's the problem. The dash vents have a 2 1/2 inch od for the hose. The heater case has 1 outlet at 2 inch, and one at 2 1/4. The factory hoses each had a 2 1/2 end with a clamp, and the other end the smaller size to fit each case outlet. The "dual" diameter hoses are not available. I make my own adapters for the dash vents, from plumbing PVC. I epoxie a short piece insde the vent. At the heater case I make a "ring" from a split piece of the same PVC for the 2 inch outlet. Then I use Dorman flex hose #96003 2 1/4 dia by 72 inches long.

The obvious answer for me was to convert to pure race car. Heater delete, blower delete.

One of the ways to deal with the problem is to use the lid off an old spray paint can to make the OD larger. punch the top out of it, and use it as a spacer to attach the bigger diameter hose that's readily available. With my portly girth, getting under the dash was too much hassle, so I gave up and race the Hooptie. Fair weather or foul, pop those wing windows!

Let's see, I've deleted the power steering with a nice Firmfeel box, installed fiberglass hood and bumper, Aluminum trunk, fuel cell, and stripped many other heavy items. Time to start on the swiss cheese treatment like Guzzi Mark! Where is my sheet of lexan anyway? I don't think I'm up for a chop top '74 four door Valiant!
