teardown was too rusty/dirty to see anything well enough to make sense of it. I never had front drums before. One spring that came off doesn't resemble anything in new hardware kit. No idea where it goes. thanks. |

This is one of a great many reasons why you really need a proper service manual. |

I have a diagram from the factory service manual. PM your email address and I'll send you a PDF. |

In the future, it might behoove you to clean the item being rebuilt before disassembly and take a few pictures of the unit still assembled for reference. At least until you get a factory service manual.

Thanks Slanted Opinion.I won't need it. I figured it all out. Mystery spring was really just a broken spring. (One side at a time was not an option as I had to evaluate what was salvageable before making the decision to temporarily restore 9" drums, or do disk swap first. As it turned out, I got by with new drums, hardware, self adjusters, lug studs, wheel seals and wheel cylinder kits and some shop time to press/swage/cut. Had I needed much more, I'd have abandoned the drums altogether.) Thank you everyone for your replies. |
