My 89 Ford van was built with one from the factory. It was very light and did a good job transferring the rotational force form the transmission to the rear axle. I swapped it out for a steel driveshaft due to transmission and rear axle changes, but i will be reinstalling the aluminum driveshaft eventually.

The only real advantage to an aluminum driveshaft is weight savings.

And More power gets to the rear tires with that weight savings.

Never had an aluminum driveshaft, but Denny's makes quality products. I had a HD & a stub shaft for my Jeep made by them years ago.

Have one in my '64 Dart, for last 9-10 yrs, from Denny's. 7-8lbs wt savings, IIRC.

My Dart has one, came from the JY. Marked "Ford van", a la Reed.
Tape measure said it was the right length, used a hybrid u-joint to match it to the yokes, and away we go.
I didn't weigh it, though.

But I can feel all that extra power!!!!
