I know a guy in NC who did this outside his shop on a concrete pad with a rough overhang/roof over it. Seemed to work for him. If no roof, I would be careful to cover everthing (cables, electrics...) against rain or....

I know of one local salvage yard that just installed one and a Machine shop/Race car owner that has had one outside for a couple years.

Out here most all shops have outside lifts. You see alot in backyards too. I would think in your neck of the woods that moisture, rust, may be a problem. If you keep everything well lubed and maintained you should get many years out of it.

You could ask the lift companies. there may be a weatherproofing package or some such?

My Bendpak HD-9ST manual says inside use only, but I'm sure you could weatherize it.
